Purchasing

For more information on purchasing, see the information on the Model Procurement Code.

  • For purchases or contracts less than $40,000, a library only needs to follow local purchasing practices.
  • For purchases and contracts at $40,000 or more, bidding is usually required.
  • Some purchases (such as furniture, carpeting, technology) may be available without bidding if using a vendor that offers state or federal contract pricing.
  • The services of a few professionals (architects, artists, engineers, etc.) do not require bidding for their services.
