Ask a Librarian is designed to assist state employees with questions related to their work, including in-depth research, reference look-up, requesting videos and DVDs, and obtaining materials from other libraries through interlibrary loan (ILL).
The State Library provides state government employees with direct access to a variety of research databases at their desktops. Databases include full-text newspaper articles, magazine and journal articles, and statistics and data. Subjects include business, science and technology, medicine, history, education, management, public affairs, and current events. Access requires a valid State Library account.
Live online training is conducted via the Internet with an instructor. Training topics and dates vary from month to month. Check the Training Calendar for the latest offerings.
These training sessions are recordings of the State Library's popular live online trainings. These training sessions are free and can be viewed at your convenience.
State government employees may apply for a State Library account online.
State government employees may request library materials from the State Library's collection of books, audiobooks, videos/DVDs, computer training CDs and other information sources. Titles not found in the State Library's collection may be requested through interlibrary loan service.
State government employees can download digital audiobooks and eBooks in partnership with Kentucky Libraries Unbound. This part of the State Library's collection can be accessed 24/7 using a computer and a valid State Library account number. Downloaded audiobooks, ebooks and more can be listened to or viewed on a computer or transferred to a portable device.
The State Library staff has prepared listings of materials in the areas of employee/management resources, lifestyle and wellness issues, computer training and safety.

Archival and records management assistance is available to develop and maintain programs to manage government information from its creation, through its maintenance and use, to its final and proper disposition as required by KRS 171.680.
