The Kentucky Building Code is a statewide, uniform, and mandatory code that provides design and construction standards to ensure public safety, health, and welfare. The
Division of Building Code Enforcement ensures compliance with the adopted building codes and standards. The current code can be found on their website.
For the most part, building code questions are dealt with only during major construction and renovation projects. During such projects, the architect or engineer designing the project and supervising the construction will handle all questions relating to building codes.
