Find Talking Books, Braille Books, and Magazines

​​​​​​​KTBL librarians are available to help you select books. We are happy to go over your reading interests or track your favorite authors. We can send you books based on your favorite genres or take specific requests. Please call or email the library t​o discuss the books you like to read. If you prefer to choose your own books, there are a variety of resources to help you locate titles of interest.

NLS Catalog

The NLS catalog includes all materials available from the National Library Service and its member libraries nationwide. This catalog is best if you are searching for a specific title or author to see what we have. You can also do a keyword search by topic. BARD: Braille and Audio Reading Download

​The BARD website and mobile app allow you to search for all digital audio and braille materials that are available for download. You must be registered for a BARD account to access the search. For more information about BARD visit: BARD: Braille and Audio Reading Download.

Talking Book Topics

Talking Book Topics is a bimonthly catalog that lists a selection of audio titles recently added to the NLS collection. This catalog is divided by genre making it easy to browse. Braille Book Review is a bimonthly catalog that lists a selection of braille titles recently added to the NLS Collection. This catalog is divided by genre making it easy to browse. NLS Collections Connections

Collections Connections is an e-newsletter assembled by the staff of the Collections Division of the National Library Service. It highlights books and resources on various themes that are available in audio or braille. You can subscribe to the newsletter and access past issues on the website: Collections Connections.

KTBL Facebook

The KTBL Facebook shares newly added titles recorded in our studio, as well as short recommendation lists on themes. You can follow us here: KTBL Facebook.

Magazines in Special Media

NLS provides a wide variety of magazines in both audio and braille. To request a subscription to any of our magazines contact the library. A full list of accessible magazines is available from NLS: Magazines in Special Media.

Accessible Newspapers

The Kentucky Talking Book Library partners with the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) to offer NFB-Newsline®. NFB-Newsline® has many national newspapers and ten newspapers from around Kentucky. For more information about accessible newspapers visit their website: NFB-Newsline®​

NLS Music Section

The NLS Music Section offers braille and large print music scores and recorded instructional materials about music and musicians. For more information about available materials: Music Service and Materials.  

Note: Popular music intended for casual listening is not available through KTBL or the NLS Music Section. These materials are intended for instruction and education.
