National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS)
Part of the Library of Congress, NLS supports the network of accessible libraries throughout the United States—including the Kentucky Talking Book Library. Most of our materials including our equipment and many of our books are provided by NLS. They also offer virtual programming that our patrons are eligible to attend.

NLS Music Section
The Music Section of NLS provides access to a special-format collection of more than 25,000 audio, braille, and large-print music scores, texts, and other instructional materials. NOTE: Materials from the NLS Music Section are intended for instructional uses and do not include music for general listening.
Bibles and Other Sacred Writings in Special Media from NLS
A comprehensive listing of accessible religious materials and sacred texts. Some are available through the NLS and the Kentucky Talking Book Library while others are through separate religious organizations.
Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Blind Services Division
Kentucky's OVR Blind Services Division assists blind and visually impaired Kentuckians obtain and maintain employment, economic self-sufficiency, and independence. Programs include McDowell Rehabilitation Center (training in low vision and blindness skills), Independent Living and Older Blind Program, Orientation and Mobility Services, Deaf Blind Program, and the Bioptic Driving Program.
Kentucky Assistive Technology Service Network (KATS)
The KATS Network's mission is to make assistive technology information, devices, and services accessible to Kentuckians with disabilities. Their goal is to make sure that all Kentuckians with disabilities have the assistive technology they need to maximize their independence.
Kentucky School for the Blind (KSB)
Based in Louisville, KSB provides comprehensive educational services to all Kentucky K-12 students who are blind and visually impaired. Includes both a full-time instructional program and a short course program.
Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs (KDVA)
KDVA educates, assists, and serves veterans and their families to ensure they receive benefits and services under state and federal laws. KDVA also houses the Office of Kentucky Veterans Centers, which manages Kentucky's long-term care communities designed with veterans in mind.
NFB-NEWSLINE® Kentucky
Provides more than 500 publications, including Kentucky newspapers, and periodicals, and even TV listings in an accessible audio and braille formats. Service is available by telephone, internet browser, iOS app, Amazon Alexa smart speakers, on the NLS Braille eReader, and more.
Radio Eye
Radio Eye broadcasts current news, public service, and general interest programming to Kentuckians who are blind and print-disabled. You can listen to Radio Eye through special radios, telephone, internet livestream, mobile apps, and smart speaker skills.
Learning Ally
A non-profit organization providing audiobooks to students with print disabilities including dyslexia.
Bookshare
An online library of accessible ebooks for people with print disabilities, including blindness, low vision, dyslexia, and physical disabilities. Materials are available in audio, braille, and other accessible formats. Subscriptions are free for students, but do have an annual fee for adults.
National Federation of the Blind (NFB)
The oldest and largest nationwide organization of blind Americans. NFB coordinates many programs, services, and resources to defend the rights of blind Americans.
National Federation of the Blind, Kentucky (NFB-KY)
NFB's affiliate organization in Kentucky.
American Foundation for the Blind (AFB)
A non-profit organization for people with vision loss. Their goal is to equal opportunities for all blind and visually impaired people through research, advocacy, leadership, and strategic partnerships.
American Council of the Blind (ACB)
ACB is a nationwide organization dedicated to increasing the independence, security, equality of opportunity, and quality of life for all blind and visually impaired people.
Council of Citizens with Low Vision International (CCLVI)
