The Kentucky Building Code, Tenth Edition, Revised June 2013 is based on the 2012 International Building Code. The Kentucky Building Code is a statewide, uniform, and mandatory code that “provides design and construction standards to ensure the public safety, health, and welfare.” The Division of Building Code Enforcement ensures compliance with the adopted building codes and standards.
For the most part, building codes questions are dealt with only during major construction and renovation projects. During such projects, the architect or engineer designing the project and supervising the construction will handle all questions relating to building codes.
