​​The Ask a Librarian service is for use by Kentucky State Government employees and staff of Kentucky Public Libraries needing assistance with in-depth research, quick reference, look-ups, lists of sources and information on Kentucky-related topics. All others should contact their local public library.​

Information for Kentucky Government Employees

This service is designed to assist state employees with questions related to their work, including in-depth research, reference look-up, requesting videos and DVDs, and obtaining materials from other libraries through interlibrary loan (ILL).

State employees: Watch this brief (6 minute) video to learn how to request items and have them delivered to your office by state messenger mail. (Employees outside Frankfort will have items shipped to their office via UPS, with return postage included).

Information for Kentucky Public Library Staff

This service is provided for the staff of Kentucky public libraries needing assistance with reference questions, professional consultation, and to request kit materials. Members of the public should request assistance or materials by contacting their local public library.

Who Is Classified as a State Worker?

This classification includes persons working in executive, legislative and judicial agencies, commissions, boards, etc.

Employees of public school systems and public higher education institutions can be served by their public and institutional libraries.
