National Center for Statistics and Analysis (http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/portal/site/nhtsa/menuitem.a0bd5d5a23d09ec24ec86e10dba046a0) offers statistical information and research reports and includes the State Traffic Safety Information (http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/stsi) with by-state traffic safety data and information including: crash statistics, economic costs, legislation status and funding programs.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov) provides information on vehicles and equipment, research, and laws and regulations.

TranStats (http://www.transtats.bts.gov) new website for transportation researchers and analysts, aimed at providing “one stop shopping” for transportation data with over 100 transportation-related data bases across every mode of transportation — with many social and demographic data sets that are commonly used in transportation analysis.
TRIS Online (http://trisonline.bts.gov/search.cfm) contains well over half a million records of references to books, technical reports, conference proceedings, journal articles and on-going research in the field of transportation from the Transportation Research Board.
