Interlibrary Loan Services to State Government Employees

The State Library provides full interlibrary loan services to state agency employees, enabling them to request books, periodical articles, and other information sources from around the nation and the world.

Availability of Items

Books, journal articles, technical reports, microfilm/fiche, government documents, and newspaper articles are generally available.

Books, microforms and photocopies of articles are materials which are the most readily obtained. Reference books, audiocassettes and videos -- by nature of content and format -- are not usually lent to other libraries.

Requesting Items

To request items, send us all the information you have about the materials you need, such as the author, title, in cases of journals or magazines, the publication date.

Then, send your request using the Ask a Librarian email service, fax, phone, mail or in person.

Timeframes

We will do our best to meet your information needs by your stated deadlines. However, we will be dealing with other libraries and it may not always be possible.

The lending library determines how long you can keep a book. In case a loan period is short, you may want to come in to pick up books to avoid using up part of your loan period having an item mailed to you from our library.

However, we can send other materials through messenger mail or fax articles.

Returns

You may return items to the Circulation Desk in the State Library, our bookdrop in front of the building or by Messenger Mail to us (ask for a return label).

If you have questions about KDLA's interlibrary loan program, call (502) 564-8300, ext. 342 or (800) 928-7000, ext. 342, or use the Ask a Librarian email service.
