Technology Analysis and Support Services

The Technology Analysis and Support (TAS) Branch provides advice and technical support, training, and guidance to state and local government agencies regarding archival and records management considerations in the application of information technology to their programs and operations. The Branch assists government agencies, advisory bodies, and work groups on information policy, imaging, and technical standards, and tries to ensure that such bodies are aware of archival and records management requirements as they relate to information resources planning, management, and appropriations.

Records Management Services

  • Records Scheduling: TAS works with the other branches in the Public Records Division in the records retention schedules process, particularly as relates to electronic records.  The Branch is responsible for the creation of:
  • Training Services: TAS provides assistance on matters related to the training of officials on electronic records management issues and on electronic records management policy and procedures. Tutorials can be found at Understanding Records Management: Electronic Records
  • Electronic Records Center:  In connection with the Division’s imaging services, TAS manages digital image storage and retrieval services for state agencies on a fee for service basis.

Division Support

TAS supports the use of automated techniques in archival and records management applications in KDLA’s Public Records Division (PRD). TAS plays an important role in the development and use of the division’s systems and web pages, and it provides technical assistance to the division’s Micrographics and Imaging Services Branch in the operation of the department’s Clark Center for Digital Imaging.

The Preservation Lab furnishes professional paper document conservation consulting, education, and training programs, records disaster recovery assistance, and laboratory conservation treatment through its.
