Continuing Education
Registration Form: Custom Holdings in WorldCat Resource Sharing

Course Description

The practice of creating Custom Holdings has been simplified! Using WorldCat Resource Sharing, you can define sets of lending partners in order to group potential lenders to the library's specifications (i.e., type of library, lending policies, local or other reciprocal agreement partners, etc.). The Custom Holdings feature automatically creates, at random, a string of up to five possible lenders. Instructions will be given for the creation of custom holdings groups and paths, with demonstration of this feature's use during the ILL process. If you have used Passport to create Custom Holdings in the past, attend this two hour live online class to see how the new and improved process through WorldCat Resource Sharing will enhance your ILL workflow.

This class will prepare you to:

  • Construct Custom Holdings Groups and Paths for the OCLC WorldCat Resource Sharing service
  • Use OCLC tools to search for and transfer large groups of symbols into Custom Holdings
  • Analyze policies of potential lending libraries

Registration to this free of charge class is limited to two people from each library system. While this is an online class, it is live and there are only 15 seats available. If you were paying for this session it would cost $120 per person. Registration will be accepted on a first come first served basis. The registration deadline is two weeks prior to the session.
