Continuing Education
Registration Form: Resource Sharing Detective: Citation Tracing

Course Description

As interlibrary loan staff, we sometimes get requests from materials that are obscure or hard to find. Emphasis will be placed on searching techniques, archival collections, scientific information, the "deep web," government information, and hard to find newspapers and periodicals.

In this two day, two hour each day distance education class, students will learn, through discussion and exercises posing "real life" resource sharing scenarios, to use a variety of search tools to find elusive material requested by interlibrary loan patrons. Frequent citation problems will be addressed, including effective searching and citation tracing for materials, and strategies for working with other libraries to make arrangements to get information outside the traditional ILL transaction.

Registration to this free of charge class is limited to two people from each library system. While this is an online class, it is live and there are only 15 seats available. If you were paying for this session it would cost $170 per person. Registration will be accepted on a first come first served basis. The registration deadline is two weeks prior to the session.
