Tours You Can Take*

The following are the KDLA areas in which tours are conducted, with descriptions of each. Please check the appropriate areas your group wishes to tour, allowing approximately 20 minutes, to a half-hour, for each area:

The State Library has a wealth of information sources available to state government employees and Kentucky residents. A tour of the State Library includes information on its services and collections (books, sound recordings, videotapes and films, newspapers and periodicals, and government documents).

The State Archives Research Room provides access to state and local government records to customers from government and the public. Customers of the archives use government records for research in legal issues, family history, Kentucky history, and many other topics.

The Document Preservation Laboratory provides a range of services that stop deterioration and improve the condition and appearance of books, documents and other paper records. Services include cleaning, tape and glue removal, mold treatment, humidification, deacidification, and encapsulation.

The Kentucky Talking Book Library provides Braille and recorded reading materials to Kentucky residents who are unable to read traditional printed materials due to visual or physical disabilities. Facilities include a machine repair area, book storage, and a recording area where volunteers record Kentucky- related books.

[Due to its recording schedule, the Talking Book Library prefers to have visitors on Fridays.]

Thank you for completing this tour questionnaire. You may return it by mail to the address below or by fax at (502) 564-5773. We will be in touch with you soon after receiving it, to schedule your tour.

Please do not consider a tour "official" until you have had a confirmation from KDLA.
