Search Hints

Key Phrase - ” Enter a “Key phrase” to find all words in exact order. For example the search “annual report” does not produce a hit on the title “annual economic report.”

Truncation – Keyword searches for single words like “report” will also retrieve publications with the words “reports” and “reporting” in the field being searched. For the broadest number of hits one should use the shortest form of the search term.

Resorting the results of searches – Underlined column headings on a search result page may be clicked to resort the results by that field. For example, the title search, which automatically sorts the results in order by title, allows a resorting by two levels of government organization: cabinet and agency. This will help the user find a publication by a known agency.

Repeated keyword searching –When doing a new search, please use the new search button on the items page or return to the “state publications database” home page to avoid computer errors.
